Along with the rest of City Council, I signed a 30-Day Extension to the Declaration of Local Disaster. This action was taken to further assist Keller residents as we recover from the winter storms. Specifically, the disaster declaration is meant to assist with emergency service reimbursements for funds expensed on storm preparations and recovery. Insurance companies may also request a copy of the local disaster declaration to include with property owners’ claims for storm-related repairs such as burst pipes and water damage.
Importantly, I also joined my colleagues in voting to waive all permit fees and inspection fees in connection with the recent weather-related property damages. Residents should not see any fees collected by the City as a result of this disaster.
We will continue to move quickly and do everything within our means to assist and expedite recovery. I have met with residents and business owners all across town to share resources with those who were significantly impacted. Some residents have been displaced from their homes.
